Douglas Pfeifer has been the CEO since July, 2017 but he has been in the mental health field for over 24 years working with all ages and providing effective and evidence based treatments to address issues such as depression, anxiety, disruptive behaviors and trauma. Along with being the CEO, he is an Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC). Additionally, he is a certified trainer for TLC and provides training that includes Children of Trauma, Structured Sensory Interventions, Sensory Interventions in the Life Space and Trauma Informed Schools. Most notably, he is a certified trainer in the Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) and in the process of becoming a trainer in Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT). In 2020, he earned trainer status in Collaborative Problem Solving, a strength based training out of Think Kids Organization.
Prior to starting at Life & Purpose Behavioral Health, he worked for Pressley Ridge, a not for profit organization working with troubled children, adolescents and families in a variety of roles that include, teacher-counselor, Family Liaison, Program Supervisor and Clinical Coordinator. While operating as Clinical Coordinator, he performed agency wide responsibilities that includes being a member of the Clinical Steering Committee for the organization and helped move Pressley Ridge to being a Trauma Informed agency. Douglas Pfeifer has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Xavier University and is Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a supervisor credential in the State of Ohio. He specializes in trauma and providing clinical supervision to his treatment staff to enhance competencies throughout the agency.
